What is flow?

What does it mean to be in flow? How do I get into flow?

Flow is allowing yourself and the energy or happenings around you to be cooperative. It is acknowledging everything as it is now, knowing you are empowered to handle it, and trusting that it will all work out.

I use the word AFTER to remind me of the pathway to flow.
  1. Acknowledgment
  2. Faith
  3. Truth
  4. Empowerment
  5. Receiving

AFTER explained:
  1. Acknowledge.  Acknowledgement is like saying “I see you.”  Awareness allows you to choose your path. Notice what is happening, what is challenging you, or what is being presented to you.
  2. Faith.  Believe that the Universe has you.  At times this belief can get shaky. I find a mantra key to reinforcing me when my faith wavers.  My mantra is “It will all work out.” (and it always does).
  3. Truth. To flow, we need to know our truth.  What is our gut telling us is the next right action?  Get quiet and listen to your gut - that’s your higher self, the inner voice, the connection with God. Your gut will tell you when to let go, redirect, wait, or take action.
  4. Empowerment.  Choice is key to flow. We swim with life.  We act to get ourselves where and what we want. In flow, we direct our actions and thoughts in the direction we want to grow and move.
  5. Receiving. Open yourself to acting on inspiration, accepting help, allowing things to work themselves out. You do your part, let the Universe do everything else.

Coco Chanel always inspires me.  She says, “Don’t spend time beating on a wall hoping to transform it into a door.” Flow is going to the door.
