The Meditation I Am Doing Now

Staying centered and happy is necessary as the anchor of the family. Moms do set the tone of the house and of experiences, even for adult children sheltering at home during quarantine.

My meditation practice is my own anchor and is what keeps me joyful and hopeful during all the ups and downs of the last few months. However, it has changed a lot during quarantine. I find myself resistant to doing a sitting mediation and moving has been the key for me.

I think because life has gotten slower, sitting is not the relief it once was. We are more seeking things to do than paring down the activities of our lives.

My alternative meditations have me meditating far more these last months than I did in “normal life.”
  • Walking meditations - moving my body in walking or gardening allows my mind to be free to repeat a mantra, focus on my breath, or be present to my surroundings. This type of meditation is super because you have nature and movement naturally destressing you.
  • Trinities - a trinity is practice that includes saying gratitudes, desires, and acknowledging your daily accomplishments- an instant mood lift.
  • Love walks - I wrote about these before, but I love them. Spending 30 minutes to an hour saying what you love is the ultimate gratitude practice.
  • Tea mediations are like meditating twice. Tea, itself, chemically puts your brain in a meditative state. Combine a lovely cup of Cloud Mountain, one of our jolie teas, with meditation and you have a short 10-15 minute meditation that completely resets your mind and body. Plus, you get the added benefits of green tea.

Love,
Julia

P.S.Tea has the added benefit of being a strong antioxidant. It keeps mind, cells, and skin glowing.
