- Celebrate daily your successes, good choices, and self. Acknowledge that your are caring for yourself each moment.
- If you mess up, there is always the next meal to get it right. No throwing in the towel.
- Small consistent losses = a big WIN.
- Keep it in the forefront of your mind. I did this by constantly reading weight loss memoirs.
- Allow yourself to nestle into your home for the first 30 days - the cold weather makes this easy. While establishing new habits, go easy on yourself with challenges. By eating at home, you allow yourself to totally control your food while you’re getting into a new habit - it's like having training wheels for a month.
- Eat the same thing. We are all creatures of habit that oftentimes eat on autopilot. Reprogram that habit by eating the same thing, but healthier dishes. This also makes planning, shopping, and execution of the new eating guidelines less time consuming.
- Make the plan yours - all of us have a few non-negotiables. Don’t let those stop the progress. Decide if you have to modify something. Do so - then stick to the plan.
- Team up. Life change done with a friend creates more fun and keeps you mutually accountable.

Julia
